We are heading out tomorrow to South Bend to look at houses. There are several lovely choices in our price range, and it's so exciting, if a little scary.
What do you think of these options?
New and nice. Cute, lots of personality.
Very different, but the pictures of the inside of this one are fantastic.
Cookie cutter, of course, but a very nice house.
My main considerations are two toilets (no more dual-child emergencies), a dishwasher, washer/dryer hookups in my house (can you believe the genius of that idea?), and a garage (no more scraping windows). Everything else is simply a bonus.
Wish us luck!

How exciting to get a house! I am looking forward to having a house soon. I would probably buy the one with the best inside. I am with you on the two bathrooms, I am very excited for that one and the garage! Good luck with your hunt!
I love house hunting. I say which ever one is in the best location. Have you gotten on google earth or maps yet and looked? I say whichever house is farthest from: railroad tracks, flood zones, wind zones, industrial areas, registered sex offenders, busy roads, etc. I personally prefer two-stories, so if all locations were equally desirable, I would choose the lots of personality house.
My vote is for something new (john will not have time to fix an old house), with a short driveway (john will not have time to shovel it), a smallish yard (john will not have time to mow it)...do you see my point? House hunting is so fun. Take pics though because they will start to run together. Good luck!
How fun! Good luck with everything. I know whatever you get you will be thrilled!
What's wrong with a house near railroad tracks?
How FUN! These all look like great houses--I really like the cute with lots of personality house and the "different" house with the awesome inside.
You guys will not know what to do with yourselves when you have a w/d, garage, dishwasher et al!
Et al!? What the heck does et al mean?
Ignore my husband. He has been a heckler for a long time and can't seem to stop.
I like houses #2 and #3! Just take my advice and don't buy a fixer-upper. Too much work, especially with a baby on the way! Just thinking about it makes my head hurt!
How exciting!!!! They all looked really cute... and I'm sure they will look like you've lived there for years after the first week with your talent and decorating skills! My vote... just stay away from the cookie cutter.... harder to sell (everyone has one so you're just a price fight!) But... I can see the Wells' family in any of those adorable little abodes! Have fun... it's such a fun thing to do when looking at houses... picking out bedrooms and stuff!!!! Enjoy it... cause once you buy it.... you have to MOVE to it! Yikes!!! But fun all the same... Good luck!
Update: We've submitted an offer, and are waiting to see what happens. (On a different house than any I pictured.)
