This is how one looks at 5:30 p.m. when:
*one has been forced out of bed at the obscenely early hour of 9 a.m.
*one has been dragged to swimming lessons which are not fun AT ALL (even if it is a little fun to back stroke, and jump off the diving board, and bounce and do things that look like playing).
*one has thrown a full tantrum after being allowed to watch only 30 minutes of the best Barbie movie ever by one's tyrannical mother, even when one is quite certain one has been promised the privilege of watching the WHOLE movie.
*one has been dragged to the grocery story where one's every incredibly reasonable request for delicious sugary treats was rejected under the ridiculous pretenses of "We don't need any more treats. Help me find some delicious healthy food." As if that exists.
*one has had no choice but to stage a violent protest against the making of dinner (by the aforementioned tyrant) when one just wanted to sit down and read books.
*one has been asked to share the enormous pile of baby blankets with one's demonic younger sister when it is OBVIOUS that there are simply not enough for more than one person.
There are days when I wish she would just tell me she's exhausted.

The scary thing is... you are having another girl.
I love Olivia. You can send her to my house when she is like that. She would fit right in with my girls, who by the way have WAY meaner mom than she does. Theirs sometimes yells at them.
So fun to see "ella" again, and emily stop torturing your children, honestly!
I can't imagine why your kids are so dramatic Emily. ha ha ha. Mine are just as dramatic for all the same reasons, a mean mom. My sister says that when her kids tell her she's being a mean mom, that means she's doing a good job. So, good job Em.
yes, if only they could tell us -- hungry, thirsty, tired, etc. It would be so much less work than tantrums and crying. Very darling post, Emilee!
Glad to know I'm not the only woman raising a child who exhibits some angst once in a while. Those blankeys look like a great place to crash!
We have a similar picture of Natalie asleep on the kitchen floor after a spectacular temper tantrum. What is it with kids? Your projects are amazing! I am constantly amazed at the things you do, Martha Stewart watch out!
Oh, my goodness.... I truley thought I was reading a post of my life, Wednesday..... Amazing that most of us parents take a ride in the same boat, (usually when it's stormy!!!!) Good luck with that 3rd load of estrogen!!!
that's my pet peeve about zeb too. why won't he just use words and TELL me what's the matter?!?! did you make all of those blankets? the rest of the stuff you made is incredible! oh, this morning at our enrichment meeting for our upcoming super saturday I proposed that we just bring you back to do the sewing tutorials for us. Alisha was concerned that you'd be busy/tired with a new baby (not to mention the driving time)- but I told her you wouldn't mind! what do ya think? :)
I love your blog. I finally did it. I can't believe how much sewing you are doing. That is great. I read through your posts and I love the picture you took of Luke at the beach! I didn't realize how great he looks in pink. Loved catching up on your blog.
Did you wake her up for dinner? Or did you let her sleep, sleep, sleep?
I love that girl!
Poor Olivia! Life can be so rough when you're a soon-to-be kindergartner!
And your sewing projects are INCREDIBLE! You need to start your own children's boutique or something! I would definitely be a customer...as soon as I get some money and a daughter!
I just got my paycheck so pack both your girls up and i'll be there tomorrow to pick them up. Even if they are exhausted and grumpy. :)
