I am a recommender. If I find something I like, I can be nearly evangelical in trying to help everyone else in the world to like it as well. If I like a band, I want everyone else to like it as well, and I'm delighted to discover people who already know about it and love it too. (I'd be a terrible hipster for that reason. Plus, I'm not hip. I think that's the primary qualification of a hipster.)
Anyway, I have two things I want you all to know about. And they're both amazing.
#1: If you, like me, have been on a quest to find the perfect set of silverware, look no further. Well, look no further if your idea of the perfect silverware is this: heavy solid handles with no ornamentation, long thin tines on the forks,
round smooth blade on the knife,
and an ever so slightly pointed, perfectly sized spoon.
Because here it is: Canopy Forged Dinnerware. Best of all, it's sold at Wal-Mart. And you can pick it up for only $2.00 per 2-pack. TWO DOLLARS! I know the pictures are underwhelming, but seriously, the next time you are in Wal-Mart, just take a jaunt down the silverware aisle and give these a chance. They're absolutely the best. (Here's the worst part: I think that other people have picked up on the greatness, so my Wal-Mart is always low on stock. I just get as many as I can whenever I'm there.)
#2 Best Summer Slush Ever. And I'm not even kidding. Just try this Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade, and you'll be hooked for life.
But make sure you freeze the watermelon cubes first, because that's what makes it so slushy, cold, and delicious. And if you like limes, it's delicious with lime juice instead of the lemon juice. (I used about half the sugar, and it was still fabulous. FABULOUS!)

I'm trying both. I'm sure no one in dayton has picked up on the greatness of that silverware. It sounds PERRFECT. and thanks for the apostrophe clarification. It was much appreciated.
We will try the smoothie for sure! That's one of our new favorite things to do....smoothie making I mean. I'll need to send you the recipe for Coconut Limeades.
I tasted the lemonade last night at Em's and can vouch that it is as advertised. I also found a nice supply of silverware at the Grand Junction Walmart which should adequately address the Wellses' need.
Thanks, Em! LOVE your recommendations!
I like recommendations...the delicious summer refresher sounds too good to pass up. It makes me want to buy a better blender. Any recommendations? ;)
Thanks Em, love your loves, look forward to trying to slush.
Brittani-
I have the world's loudest blender, a classic Oster. I love the vintage-esque chrome beehive shape of the base, and I love the all metal drive because they are said to never wear out, but seriously--it is LOUD.
I love these kinds of posts! We should all be sharing our secrets with each other!
I wonder if Toledoans are onto the silverware yet.
