Drive-In (Can you believe we have one?)

My  brother Pete came for the weekend, and we started our celebrations by heading to the drive-in theater here in Roosevelt to see "Brave."  John sacrificed and stayed home so Maddie wouldn't have to be awake until 11:00 p.m., but the rest of us got our Mango Kookaburra licorice, a bag of chocolate covered cinnamon bears (AMAZING!), and some homemade kettle corn, and partied it up.  (Well, we partied it up until our movie was over, but we didn't stay for the double feather of "The Avengers".  I'm not a brave enough soul to keep three little kids up 'til 1:30 to see a violent superhero movie.  I don't think they'd ever sleep again.)

Recommendations

I am a recommender.  If I find something I like, I can be nearly evangelical in trying to help everyone else in the world to like it as well.  If I like a band, I want everyone else to like it as well, and I'm delighted to discover people who already know about it and love it too.  (I'd be a terrible hipster for that reason.  Plus, I'm not hip.  I think that's the primary qualification of a hipster.)

Anyway, I have two things I want you all to know about.  And they're both amazing.

#1:  If you, like me, have been on a quest to find the perfect set of silverware, look no further.  Well, look no further if your idea of the perfect silverware is this:  heavy solid handles with no ornamentation, long thin tines on the forks,

round smooth blade on the knife,

and an ever so slightly pointed, perfectly sized spoon.

Because here it is:  Canopy Forged Dinnerware.  Best of all, it's sold at Wal-Mart.  And you can pick it up for only $2.00 per 2-pack.  TWO DOLLARS!  I know the pictures are underwhelming, but seriously, the next time you are in Wal-Mart, just take a jaunt down the silverware aisle and give these a chance.  They're absolutely the best.  (Here's the worst part:  I think that other people have picked up on the greatness, so my Wal-Mart is always low on stock.  I just get as many as I can whenever I'm there.)

#2  Best Summer Slush Ever.  And I'm not even kidding.  Just try this Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade, and you'll be hooked for life.

But make sure you freeze the watermelon cubes first, because that's what makes it so slushy, cold, and delicious.  And if you like limes, it's delicious with lime juice instead of the lemon juice.   (I used about half the sugar, and it was still fabulous.  FABULOUS!)
